Pretzel dogs
Branding, Craft, packaging
I enjoy conceptualizing restaurant branding and food packaging. Food is such an everyday thing, and in a world where all the containers look the same, it's easy to imagine something new and unique. Considering what the food is, the necessity of the container, does the food need to stay hot/cold? How is the brand applied? How will people interact with it? Will it be memorable? These are all things to consider when designing packaging. The Pretzel Dogs tube is designed to keep the food hot and protected from transportation and handling. The elements of the brand applied through out, creating an experience other than just eating great food but also thoughtful design.

My past experience as a chef contributes to my creativity and ability to consider the extent to which a food and beverage brand can go. Envisioning how a customer interacts with the brand and how it’s delivered are my favorite aspects of design; it’s where I geek out. For this project, I was able to bring two of my interests together: cooking and design.
I wanted the logo for Pretzel Dogs to be bright and fun, a playful take on the elongated bodies of wiener dogs and the synonymous knot of a pretzel. This business combines the two to create something unique. The two elements of the logo tie together well to deliver the concept of what’s being served to the public.

The colors represent the all-too-familiar ketchup and mustard, condiments that are synonymous with pretzels and hot dogs for some. They’re also eye-catching attention-grabbers. I want the colors to be what brings people in as they draw closer. This brand would work well in either brick-and-mortar or food truck applications.
